The Data-processing Center on the Quality of Food The Data-processing Center on the Quality of Food (CIQUAL) is a unit of scientist and technical French Agency of Medical Safety of Food (AFSSA). It has the role of collecting, of evaluating and of making available of the data on the composition of food. Its activities are articulated around the three following topics:
Management of a bank of bench-mark data on the composition of food,
Provision of these data near the administrations, the researchers, the nutritionnists and the food industry,
Collaboration with the evaluation of the nutritional risks, within the framework of the work led to the AFSSA.
In France, the principal tables of composition of food are published by the CIQUAL. These tables constitute an essential precondition to the realization of the investigations health-food and their scientific credibility. They also represent an invaluable tool for the people working in the field of dietetics and the nutrition.
